Week of 2/27~ Review Week!

This week we will be reviewing:

How to write and recognize the letters O, Q and D.
How to write and recognize the numbers 4, 5 and 6.
All of our memory verses. "Do unto others as you would do to you", "Be quiet before the Lord." and "God is Love".
We will learn our new nursery rhyme: Ring Around the Rosy.
I will also be doing mid-year assessments on all of the students this week. I will be assessing colors, numbers, shapes, letters and letter sounds. I will be sending home ring cards for the students to practice on the colors, numbers, shapes, letters and letter sounds that they have not mastered yet.
We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday on Thursday!
We will be reading the stories: Dog and Cat, Move Over Rover and The Cat In the Hat.

Our Star Student this week is Taylor Morgan! :)
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lindsey on Saturday the 3rd! :)

Parent Reminders:
Tuition is due Thursday March 1.
Parent Pick Me Up starts Thursday March 1 and continues every first Thursday of the month at 8:30am in Room 201. Stay after you've dropped your child off at their classroom and enjoy some coffee and doughnuts. Meet other parents, relax and unwind! :)

   


Check out some of the fun things that we did last week!

We discussed the 6th day of Creation, God made animals and people.
To go along with our discussion we outlined the children's bodies and let them draw them do a self portrait. Here are some pictures of the children drawing themselves.

Week of 2/20

This week we will be learning:

How to write and recognize the letter D.
How to write and recognize the number 6.
Our nursery rhyme: Hey Diddle Diddle.
Our memory verse: Do unto others as you would do to you. -Luke 6:31
We will also begin discussing the 6th day of Creation. God made the animals and people.
February is Dental Health month. We will be talking to the children this week about the importance of brushing their teeth and taking care of their mouth. They will also come home with a prize from a local dentist!
March is Disability Awareness month. Since the other local schools will be using the dolls during the month of March, the local branch of Easter Seals has graciously lent us the disablilty dolls for us to show the children. The dolls show the children that even though a child might be in a wheelchair, be blind, be hearing impared or have braces on their legs that they are just like them and they want to be treated like them as well. Those children just get around a little differently but they still like to have fun and be a kid.
We will be reading the stories,"Since We're Friends:An Autism Picture Book", "David Goes to School" and "Elmo Visits the Dentist".
We will also be doing some fun crafts and actiivites to go along with our letter and number of the week as well as our dicusssion of the 6th day of Creation.

A Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Eli on Saturday the 25th!

*Open House is Wednesday the 22nd from 9am-12noon and Thursday the 23rd 1pm-3pm.
If you know someone that is interested in our program, please pass this information along! Parents with students already enrolled in our program are also encouraged to come and visit the class that their child will be in next year!

We had a Valentine's Day celebration on Tuesday! Thank you again to all of our parent volunteers!

*We also made some fun crafts in our room to go along with our letter of the week: Q!


Our Q-tip art! The children got to pick out what color paper they wanted and were given a bottle of glue and Q-tips. They got to make whatever they wanted! The children created everything from a rocket to a rainbow!

Week of 2/13

This week we will be learning:

How to write and recognize the letter Q.
How to write and recognize the number 5.
Our memory verse: Be quiet before the Lord.
Our nursery rhyme: Mary, Mary Quite Contrary.
We will continue practicing writing our first names.
We will make some fun crafts to go along with our letter of the week.
We will read the stories: "Valentine Mice", "Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice" and "Waddle, Waddle, Quack, Quack, Quack".
We will also have our Valentine's Day party on Tuesday!
Our Star Student this week is Jackson Bryant! :)
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lily on Monday the 13th and to Grant on Wednesday the 15th! :)

A reminder to parents, you are more than welcome to join us for our Valentine's Day party in the Gym from 9:30-10:15 on Tuesday the 14th! Also, the students may bring in Valentines to pass out to their friends if they would like to!

Week of 2/6

This week we will be learning:

How to write and recognize the letter O.
How to write and recognize the number 4.
Our nursery rhyme is: One, Two Buckle My Shoe.
Our memory verse is: God is Love.
We will be reviewing the color orange by playing a color game.
We will also be making some fun crafts to go along with our letter of the week and for Valentine's Day.
We will read the stories, "Slugs in Love", "Valentine Friends" and "The Biggest Valentine Ever".
Our Star Student this week is: Izzy Goad! :)
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Logan on Saturday the 11th!

Just a reminder to parents that we will be having a Valentine's Day party on Tuesday, February 14th.
It will be from 9:30-10:15 in the Gym. Students are allowed to bring in Valentine's to hand out to the class if they wish to do so.
