Week of 12/17/12

This week we are going to have a bunch of Christmas fun!

Tuesday and Wednesday will be pajama day! So, have your child wear their favorite pajamas to school on both days! (Please still wear school appropriate shoes, no slippers! ) We will also be watching the Polar Express on both days and be making some fun Christmas crafts with Mrs. Tracy's pre-school class.

Thursday is the Christmas program at 10:30am in the Gym! The doors will open at 10:00am for parents and guests to arrive to find a seat. If your child is full day, please send them at 8:30am when the morning students arrive because we will be doing final practices in the morning and will need them there for line up as well. Please have your child wear red, green, white or something Christmassy for the program. There will be NO afternoon session after the program. If your child is afternoon only or full day, you will need to take them with you after the program!

Christmas/Winter break is Dec 21-Jan 7! School resumes on Tuesday Jan 8th!

December tuition is now due! Please pay by Thursday if you have not all ready!

If you do not have a church home but would like to attend a Christmas service,
Blue Grass's Christmas Eve Services are at 5:00pm and 7:00pm on Monday, December 24th.
Services will be held in the gym due to the large number that usually attends.

 I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!












Week of 12/10/12

This week we will learn:

How to write and recognize the letter F.
How to recognize and draw a triangle.
Our memory verse: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." -Romans 6:23
We will be making a craft to go along with our letter of the week.
We will also make some more Christmas crafts.
We will read the stories: The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever, The Berenstain Bears Meet Santa Bear and The Christmas Promise.

Our Star Student this week is: Tessa Morgan in the morning class and Ty Miller in the afternoon class. Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*December tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*Field Trip is this Thursday! Permission slips are due Wednesday! If your child has a HFYH shirt, please have them wear it on that day! The bus is going to leave at 8:30am! Please DO NOT be late!
Please arrive with enough time to have your child go to the rest room and then load the bus! If your child is afternoon only, please have them bring a lunch to join our full day kids after we get back from the field trip!
*Christmas Program is Thursday, December 20th at 10am in the Gym! There will be NO full day/afternoon only program that day! If your child is afternoon only, please send them that morning to practice and be ready for the program when it starts!
*Pajama Days are next Tuesday and Wednesday the 18th and 19th! We are going to end our first semester with some Christmas fun! So send your child in their pajamas on those two days!
*Winter/Christmas break is Dec 21-Jan 7! School resumes on Tuesday January 8th!
Note: This was a mistake on my part originally, I had thought we were going to follow EVSC's schedule and start back on the 2nd but we are now giving our families 2 weeks off of school so we will come back on Tuesday, January 8th!

Week of 12/3/12

Review Week!

This week we will be reviewing:

How to write and recognize the letters: E,S,I and H.
How to recognize and sort the colors: pink, yellow and blue.
How to recognize and draw the circle.
Our nursery rhymes: Pease Porridge Hot, Star light, Star bright, Itsy Bitsy Spider and Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater.
Our Days of Creation: On Day 1, God made light, On Day 2, God made the air and the water, On Day 3, God made the land and the plants and On Day 4, God made the sun, moon and stars.
We will begin making our Christmas crafts.

Our Star Student this week is: Mariah Mull morning class and Noah Strobel afternoon class.
Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*December tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*Book Fair this week! The book fair will be open before and after school each day and from 6:00pm-8:00pm Monday-Wednesday night. All proceeds benefit our school!
*December 13th- Field Trip to the Evansville Protestant Home to sing for the residents. Field Trip permission slip is due December 11th! Bus will leave at 8:30am! Please DO NOT be late! We will perform at 9am and pass out our goodies before we leave! Due to parking and space within the nursing home, parents are asked to not attend this field trip!
*December 20th- HFYH Christmas program at 10am in the Gym! There will be NO afternoon or full day classes after the program.
* If EVSC is on a one hour delay, HFYH will also run on a one hour delay. If EVSC is on a two hour delay ALL morning classes are cancelled. Afternoon and full day students can arrive at 11:45. If EVSC cancels school, HFYH will be closed as well!
*No School December 21st-January 1st- Christmas Break! School will resume Wednesday January 2nd!
 


Week of 11/26/12

This week we will learn how to:

Write and recognize the letter E.
Our nursery rhyme: Pease Porridge Hot
Our memory verse: "Each one should use whatever gift they have received to serve others." -1 Peter 4:10
We will read the stories:When Autumn Comes, Leaves and Acorns Everywhere.
We will also be doing some crafts to go along with our letter and nursery rhyme of the week.
We will be working with our new sensory bins as well!

Our Star Student of the week is: Abigail Stilwell for the morning and Kylie Weiss for the afternoon!
Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*Please bring in a ornament that your child likes to put on our classroom Christmas tree. Ornaments will be returned after Christmas!
*Field Trip to sing at the Protestant Nursing home is December 13th. Permission slips are due December 11th.
*Our mission moment for the month of December is for the Protestant Nursing Home. One of the things that they go through the most is the little packs of Kleenex, so we are asking each child to bring in a pack of Kleenex to hand out to the residents at our field trip.
*Just a reminder of our snow policy: HFYH follows EVSC school delays and cancellations. If EVSC is on a one hour delay, HFYH will also run on a one hour delay. If EVSC is on a two hour delay ALL morning classes are cancelled. Afternoon and full day students can arrive at 11:45. If EVSC cancels school, HFYH will be closed as well!

Week of 11/12/12

This week we will learn:

How to recognize and write the letter S.
How to recognize and sort the color pink.
Our nursery rhyme: Star light, Star bright.
Our memory verse: "Submit yourselves, then, to God." -James 4:7
We will read the stories: Stone Soup, Turkey Trouble and The Night Before Thanksgiving.
We will be using stamps in the art center.
We will be making Stone Soup and we will also be doing some projects to go along with the story.
We will be making a Thanksgiving craft.

Our Star Student this is week is: Clayton Roesner in the morning class and Kaila Richard in the afternoon class! Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

*November tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*School Picture order forms are due Tuesday 11/13!
*Last day to bring in Yams is Thursday 11/15! We want to win that special prize from Mrs. Nicki!
Thank you to all who have already donated, you're helping feed a family in need this Thanksgiving!
*If you can, please bring in a small can of vegetable soup by Thursday morning, we will be making "Stone Soup" in class as one of our projects to go along with the story.
*Parent/Teacher Conference sign-ups went home last Wednesday! Please get them back to me ASAP! Remember, Parent/Teacher Conferences are Monday, November, 19th. Please use the main school door entrance and check in with Mrs. June before coming down to the classroom for your conference.
*No School the week of November 19th~ Fall/Thanksgiving Break!

Week of 11/5/12

This week we will learn:

How to write and recognize the letter I.
How to recognize and sort the color yellow.
Our nursery rhyme: Itsy Bitsy Spider
Our memory verse: "I am the way, the truth and the life." -John 14:6
We will read the stories: "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves", "Yes We Can" and "When the Leaf Blew In".
We will do some fun crafts to go along with our letter and nursery rhyme of the week.
We will begin discussing Day 4 of Creation. On Day 4, God made the sun, moon and stars.


Our Star Student of the week is: Ivy Wauetlet for the morning and afternoon classes. Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*November tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*For our mission moment for the month of November we are collecting Yams to be put in Thanksgiving baskets to give out to families in need this holiday season. Please bring in your can of Yams now through November 15th! The class that brings in the most cans wins a prize!
*We will be on complete lock down on Tuesday, November 6th because of the voting being in the gym of the school. We normally lock all doors at 8:45 anyways, but to insure even more safety we are locking all doors including classroom doors all day. If you need to pick up your child, please follow regular guidelines and buzz the office at the main school doors and they will let you in to get your child.
*Parent/Teacher conference sign-ups will be going home tomorrow. Please choose your time and I will get the paper back to you as soon as possible. Parent/Teacher conferences are Monday, November 19th.
