For some reason I could not get any of the pictures of everything we've done each week to load until tonight! So here's what we've done so far in the month of October!

As you can see we're having a lot of fun while learning about God, letters, colors and nursery rhymes this month! Check back and see what great things are happening inside our classroom!
 
 

Week of 10/29

This week we will learn:

How to write and recognize the letter: H
How to recognize and sort the color: blue
Our memory verse: "Honor your father and mother." -Ephesians 6:2-3
Our nursery rhyme: Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater.
We will begin discussing the 3rd day of creation: On Day 3, God made the land and the plants.
We will be making some Halloween crafts this week.
We will be making some crafts to go along with our letter and nursery rhyme this week.
We will be working on our small fine motor skills during our center time.
We will read the stories, "The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat", " The Spooky Wheels On The Bus" and "The Night Before Halloween".

Our Star Student this week is: Adlee Singleton :) Please bring 13 pre-packaged snacks from the provided snack list in the morning and 10 in the afternoon! Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*Our Halloween party is this Wednesday the 31st at 10:45 in the Gym! If you haven't already signed up to bring in supplies for the party and you wish to do so, there is a sign-up sheet on the wall outside of the classroom.
*The children may dress up in their Halloween costumes on Wednesday if they would like. Just please make sure that they can easily go to the bathroom by themselves in it!
*The children may bring in a treat or treat bag to pass out to the class if they would like to. Due to allergies please avoid anything with nuts or peanut butter in it!
*If your child is afternoon only, please join us at 10:45 for the party! Your child can then bring a lunch and join our full day kids for lunch and rest time before we start the afternoon session! (Remember nothing with nuts or peanut butter for lunch as well due to allergies!)
*Please have a weather appropriate change of clothes in your child's backpack in case of an accident! (shirt, pants, socks and underwear)
*Please clean out your folders in your child's HEART binder each week!
*Please return all library books on Wednesday so that Mrs. June can process them and your child can check out a new book in library on Thursday!

Week of 10/22

We had a great time on our first field trip of the year to TJ's Orchard! Thanks to all of the parents who made it out! We had a blast! :)

REVIEW WEEK!

This week we will review:

How to write and recognize the letters: K, X, Z and N.
How to recognize and sort the colors: Orange, Gray, Black and Green.
Our memory verses from the Bible: "Keep me as the apple of your eye." -Psalm 17:8,
"eXalt the Lord our God." -Psalm 99:5, "Zion hears and rejoices." -Psalm 97:3 and
"Now faith is being sure." -Hebrews 11:1

We will learn a new nursery rhyme this week: Little Miss Muffett
We will read the stories: Trick or Treat Halloween, Clifford's Halloween and Monster Mash.

Our Star Student this week is: Tessa Wilke for the morning and afternoon. Please bring in 13 pre-packaged snacks for the morning class and 10 for the afternoon class from the snack list provided.
Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*School Pictures are this Thursday, October 25th!
*Halloween Party is Wednesday, October 31st! Your child may dress up in their costume that day, just please make sure that they are able to go the the restroom by themselves with the costume.
If your child wants to bring in a treat or treat bag to pass out to their classmates they may, due to allergies please refrain from anything with chocolate in it.
*Please make sure that your child brings back their library books on Wednesdays so that Mrs. June can process them. If your child does not bring back their library book, they are not allowed to check out a new book that week.
*Please make sure that your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in their backpacks in case of an accident. (Socks, underware, shirt and pants.)
*If your child has had a fever, been vomiting, had non-clear mucus or diarrhea. They MUST be symptom free for 24 hours before they return back to school!

Week of 10/15

This week we we learn:

How to write and recognize the letter K.
How to recognize and sort the color orange.
Our nursery rhyme: Old King Cole
Our memory verse: "Keep me as the apple of your eye." -Psalm 17:8
We will read the stories: Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up? and What Do You Do With a Kangaroo?
We will make a Halloween craft this week and it will go along with our color of the week as well.

Our Star Student this week is: Sophia Jones :)
 Please bring in 13 pre-packaged snacks off of the school approved list for the morning class and 10 for the afternoon class. (You don't have to bring a snack on Wednesday since we will be gone for the field trip) Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*Field Trip to TJ's Orchard is Wednesday October 17th! We will leave HFYH at 8:30am! Please DO NOT be late! If your child has a HFYH shirt, please have them wear it that day.
*Field trip permission slips and money are due Tuesday the 16th!
*Parents are welcome to come along on the field trip, you may follow the bus to the orchard or just meet us there! Admission for parents is free!
*October tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*Please make sure your child has a "weather appropriate" change of clothes in their backpacks in case of an accident!

Week of 10/1

This week we will learn:

How to write and recognize the letter Z.
How to recognize and sort the color black.
Our nursery rhyme is: Zacchaeus
Our memory verse: Zion hears and rejoices.
We will discuss the 2nd day of Creation: On Day 2, God made the air and the water.
We will read the stories: "Animal Strike at the Zoo!", "Zach the Lazy Zebra" and we will have a special guest Mrs. Judy come in and read us a special story on Thursday for "Reading Across the Country"
We will be doing some fun crafts to go along with our letter and nursery rhyme of the week.

Our Star Student this week is: Avery Littell in the morning and afternoon. Please bring in 13 pre-packaged snacks in the morning and 10 in the afternoon from the snack list provided. Don't forget a show and tell item each day!

Parent Reminders:
*Fall Family Picnic is this Thursday, October 4th at 11:00am  If your child is afternoon only or full day, you may come at 11 and join us for lunch and then your child will stay for the afternoon session. If your child is morning only, you can come at 11 for lunch and then your child may leave with you after lunch.
*October tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH.
*Please clean out your child's folder in their HEART binder each week.
*Library books are due back on Wednesday! If your child does not bring back their library book, they will not be able to check out a new book at library on Thursday!
*Please remember that your child MUST be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
If your child has been vomiting, has had a fever or diarrhea or their mucus is not clear, please DO NOT send them to school! This is an EVSC guideline and it also helps to not spread sickness!
*Please wear tennis shoes on Wednesday for gym class!

Week of 9/24

This week we will learn:

How to write and recognize the letter N.
How to recognize and sort the color green.
Our nursery rhyme: Jack Be Nimble
Our memory verse: "Now faith is being sure." -Hebrews 11:1
We will read the stories, "Noah's Ark", "The Non-Praying Mantis" and "Naughty Little Monkeys"
We will go on a nature walk around the school and collect different types of nature to make into a craft.
We will make some fun crafts to go along with our letter of the week.
We will begin discussing Day 1 of Creation: "On Day 1, God made light!" We will also make a fun craft to go along with our discussion.

Our Star Student this week is: Lane Hewig for the morning and afternoon! Don't forget a show-and-tell item each day! And please bring in 13 pre-packaged snacks for the morning class snack and 10 pre-packaged snacks for the afternoon class! Please make sure snacks are off of the approved school snack list!

Parent Reminders:
*Library books are due back on Wednesday! If your child does not turn in their library book by Thursday when we go to library, they will not be able to check out a new book.
*Please clean our the folders in your child's HEART binder each week!
*Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on Wednesday for gym class!
*I guess there has been some confusion on the children's journals, so I will explain them a little more.
Every Tuesday your child learns a new nursery rhyme and memory verse from the bible. Your child then cuts their new nursery rhyme and memory verse out and glues it into their journal. The journal is sent home on Tuesdays so that you can go over the nursery rhyme and memory verse with your child if you have time. The journals need to be brought back and put in your child's chair bag by the end of the week. (Thursday) Hope this clears some questions up! :)
*Fall Family Picnic is Thursday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m!
*School Pictures are November 5th!
*Scholastic Book Fair starts December 3rd!

Check Out What We Did Last Week!

Here are some pictures of some of the fun things we did last week!
Last week was review week so we reviewed all of the letters, colors, nursery rhymes and memory verses that we have learned the last 4 weeks!

We had gotten 3 inches of rain on Monday so on Tuesday our playground was soaked!
 For recess we got out the bikes and cars and played in the gym!
 
W is for watermelon!
 
By Wednesday we could go out on the playground!

One of our review nursery rhymes was "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
The kids got to make their very own little lamb!
 

Our new nursery rhyme for the week was "Three Little Kittens"

Week of 9/17/12

Review Week! This week we will be reviewing:

How to write and recognize the letters: A, V, W and M.
How to recognize and sort the colors: red, purple, white and brown.
Our memory verses: "Ask and it shall be given", "Vengeance is mine", "Wait for the Lord" and "My sheep listen to my voice."
Our new nursery rhyme this week is: Three Little Kittens
We will read the stories: "If You Take a Mouse To School", "Ants Can't Dance!" and "Moostache"
We will continue working on our cutting skills.
We will make some fun crafts to go along with our review letters and our nursery rhyme of the week.


Our Star Student this week is: Koralena in the morning class and Noah in the afternoon class!

Parent Reminders:
*September tuition is now due! Please make checks to HFYH!
*If you have not brought in a $1 for your child's water cup yet, please do so!
*Library books are due back on Wednesday. Please put the books in the purple bin next to the pink bin that your child's HEART binder goes in.
*Please remember to send your child in tennis shoes on Wednesday for gym class!
*Please clean out your child's folder in their HEART binder each week!
*If your child stays full day, they are allowed to bring in a stuffed animal/blanket to lay with for rest time.
